Growing Wild Forest School, an all-outdoor preschool based in Asheville, NC, is currently seeking part-time assistant to provide administrative and organizational support for our summer camp and year-round programming. Our school is expanding rapidly to meet the increasing demand for safe, reliable and quality education amidst the pandemic.


ABOUT US

Founded in 2016, we are the first program established by The Forest School Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to making nature connection education accessible to all young children. Our preschool serves children ages 3-6 during the school year and ages 3-8 during the summer. We operate entirely outdoors on 3.5 private acres bordering 15 acres of public land, in all seasons and all safe-weather conditions.


The Administrative Assistant position will play a vital role in supporting the School Director and Board of Directors in managing the administrative aspects of the school including communication, program registration, record keeping, budgeting, billing and accounting, and filing, and general business operations. This position will be primarily virtual/work-from-home, but preference will be given to candidates local to Asheville, NC to assist with in-person events as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

The Administrative Assistant must:

1) Be comfortable and proficient with current technology and web-based tools including email, Google Suite, Zoom and other common virtual business, communications and security/anti-virus software.

2) Have access to a reliable computer and internet connection, phone with voicemail or answering machine, fax machine or computer faxing capabilities.

3) Have a basic understanding of business operations, including budgeting, communication, filing and

record keeping, and time management

4) Be able to set own work schedule (8 hours per week) and provide information and assistance in a timely manner.


Duties include but are not limited to:

 Manage contact lists and participants spreadsheets

 Maintain a calendar and set up meetings

 Handle correspondence (electronic and hard copy)

 Handle billing and accounting

 Prepare and send out e-mail newsletters

 Prepare, collate and distribute Growing Wild Forest School materials

 Send out requested information to customers

 Handle client inquiries by phone or e-mail

 Drive and determination to see Growing Wild Forest School succeed

 Ability to work as part of a team

 Excellent customer service skills

 Respect for others and intellectual property (no plagiarism or software piracy)

 Strong organizational skills

 Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

COMPENSATION The administrative assistant position will be paid $15 per hour at a max of 8 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow your role with us in the future as we continue to expand our programming to meet the needs of our community.
